Conference Call to Discuss Mountaintop Removal Mining and
How We Can Stop it, May 13, 2009

Last month Maria Gunnoe won the Goldman Environmental Prize for her work on mountaintop removal (MTR) mining, and then President Obama announced his aim of rolling back policies supportive of this kind of coal extraction. It is therefore a very important moment for this issue, so please plan to tune in to hear from some inspiring leaders where the issue stands, learn their strategy going forward and how you can help, and chime in with your own thoughts for how to end MTR.

Leading this discussion will be two activists who’ve won the Goldman Environmental Prize for their stances on MTR, Maria Gunnoe and Judy Bonds, plus Orion advisor/author David Orr, and others.

Whether you work to end MTR or not, please join us for this conference call scheduled for May 13th. Like climate change, this is a devastating environmental and social ill, one which we all should take action to end.

To join the call on May 13:
Dial 712-432-1000 at 2 pm Eastern time (usual long distance charges apply)
Enter conference code 581688569#

If you find that line is busy or full:
Dial 712-432-1001
Enter conference code 452001681#

Please forward this message along to others who may want to join us. The call’s leaders are very inspiring and we promise that it will be a rich dialogue.

If you can’t join us, the audio of this conversation (and all the calls that preceded it) will be available for listening any time in the conference calls archive after the 13th.
