Islamist Kills Family To “Protect” Them From Westernization

by

In one of my earlier posts today I defended Islam by saying that it gets a bad reputation for being a violent religion. This story however, does nothing to help my cause.

A man killed his family (wife and four daughters) in their sleep to “protect” them from westernized lifestyles. He was also upset that his daughter wanted to become a fashion designer.

It happened a few months ago, but this report came out today.

For the longest time I have maintained that Islam is not responsible for events like this. Rather, horrible acts are done for different reasons and masked by religion. But this story and stories like this one make it hard to accept that.

It should also be noted that Islam is a relatively young religion. While Christianity is often regarded as a peaceful religion, it wasn’t always like this. Christianity has had its share of bloodshed. It would be wrong to take the position that Islam fosters violence while being blind to the violence that has been brought in the name of Jesus.

Please feel free to comment. Do you think Islam is a religion that fosters violence, or are radicals like this only making it seem that way?

    Oh come on….

“Islam is a young religion”, 1500 years is ‘young’?

Sounds lke a feeble justification fo a religion that practices a brutality unseen in the west.

If Christiansity was barbaric back in the dark ages, Islam was JUST as barbaric, if not more so at the same time.

How come only one of them managed to grow beyond slaughtering people as a means to an end?

  2. abc Says:

Your just a pansy assed apologetist trying to paint over the gaping holes that are appearing between what Islam professess and how it actually behaves.

The time has past when you can justify actions such as that with feeble excuses.

  3. Steve J. Says:

Yes, you definitely have a point about Islam being just as barbaric in the past. And please don’t think I am justifying any of this. I am merely not convinced that Islam itself is evil. You will agree with that won’t you? You did say that I am “…trying to paint over the gaping holes that are appearing between what Islam professes and how it actually behaves.” So if Islam does not prefess any of this, then it is logical to say that the responsibility does not solely fall to the religion, but instead falls to individuals who are misinterpreting it.

Thanks for the comments by the way.

Ok, but when the actions are done in the name of that religion, and encouraged, supported and justified by the adherents and moral leaders of that religion, then how can it NOT be “religious”.

We here in the west are taught to be politically correct, not to label, stereotype or stigmatise people or beliefs.

However in todays world that just leaves us as suckers when it comes to the actions taken against us by Islam.

We are seen as weak, and we prevent ourselves from speaking out the truth as we see it, and even defending ourselves against aggressive other cultures that would dominate and destroy us.

We are the manufacturers of our own cultural demise.

You don’t hear Islam saying to itself “don’t call the jews pigs, or nasty names” “dont kill the westerners just because you don’t like them” “Be tolerant of others and don’t be nasty to people who are differnet”.

These are western internal dialoges that Islam doesn’t have. Instead you hear “Kill the non believers” “destroy the jews” “wipe out the west”

By being an apologist for the crimes of Islam all you are doing is making it easier for them to destroy our culture, beliefs and civilization.

By standing up and saying “Hey this is not right! Its evil to kill someone beause they disagree with your beliefs” or just calling a spade a spade, you are making obvious what people are afraid to say in public.

And maybe Islam itself may just start to say “you know those westerners are right, we are acting in a barbaric primitive fashion and there is no excuse for it”.

… but I doubt it…. the war between Islam and christianity has been going for as long as Islam has existed, and the west is losing, its hanging itself in the noose of political correctness and athiesm.

i second the calling of “bullshit” on islam being a young religion. read your history, or at least bother to look up the religion and its history on wikipedia.

  6. Steve J. Says:

Wow Ahgas, you are right. Thanks for the heads up. I was under the impression that they just came up with this thing a few months ago. You’re right, I should have checked my history first.

By the way, while I was on Wikipedia, I stumbled upon these sites. Thought you might like them. May I direct you here, here, and here.

Of course it’s not young if you’re comparing it to religions like Scientology, but as far as serious religions go, it is relatively young.

Islam has been around for 1500 years. 1000-1500 years after Christianity was founded, we had the crusades. Oh wait. Nevermind me telling you. You can see that right here.

Man, you’re right. Wikipedia is great.
