Good Night, Everybody

by Doug Robertson

Proprietorship of Current Events Watch will soon become another’s. I don’t want to let it go, I really don’t. Since given the opportunity last year to write for 451 Press on this site, I feel like it has become my baby. We’ve debated amongst ourselves (yes, there are several of me) about this, but the final verdict is that since I really don’t feel I am capable of maintaining the standards that the site deserves right now, I should pass the torch to the next in line. I’m surprised how emotional I actually am, even now, writing this. A bit teary-eyed, actually. But I think it’s best for 451, and I will strike out on my own in the blogosphere. So I’ll still be around, just not here. Where, I don’t know yet. It has been a true blessing to meet the folks I’ve met from writing for 451, and I’ll still be in touch with each of them and hopefully they with me when I set up house elsewhere. Until then, I’ll still be regularly visiting my friends’ homes and would highly recommend that you do the same.

Doug (the other one), at Right-Wing Dumbth.
Rainlillie (the only one), at Great Minds Think Like Me.
Auria (always write on) at Auria Cortes.
And Diane (re-defining MS as Most Stellar) at A Stellarlife.

This absolutely ruins my day my friend. Current Events Watch under your care has been a tower of inspiration to me. I treasure our internet friendship and appreciate more than I can express the help you have given me. Good luck and please keep in touch.

  2. little navigator Says:

Doug, this sucks! Big time! I’m holding you at your word that you will start a blog on your own.

  3. rainlillie Says:

Wow! I didn’t see that coming! I’m sure you’ll land on your feet. You have been such an inspiration to me. You’re charming, sweet and kind! There’s so much I’d like to say, but I think it’s better said in an e-mail. I share little navigators and Doug B’s feelings. We’ll talk real soon.

  4. little navigator Says:

Doug, I have this ugly feeling we’ll lose touch. Man, you know how to ruin the beginning of a week.

  5. little navigator Says:

    Hi, it’s me again. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…

  6. little navigator Says:

When’s your last day? Is this post it?

  7. Doug Robertson Says:

Guys, you’re not making this any easier for me! Hard decision. But, no we’re not losing touch, and yes, I’ll still be around, just with a change of address. In fact, I registered my new domain just this evening, although it won’t be active for a couple of days. It will be furibundum.com … until that domain is active, I won’t post for a day or so, but this is where’ll I be hosting http://furibundum.blogspot.com (nothing there yet, just the setup, but see? I have every intention of continuing, just not with 451 Press.) By the way, you all are amazing.

  8. little navigator Says:

Hi…ummm…I think I have turned into a stalker.

  9. Doug Robertson Says:

Some call it stalking, I call it love. :-)

  10. little navigator Says:

Ha! That reminds me of a Spanish song I love. My favorite line is: Some call me crazy, but when it comes to love I’m an original (I paraphrased)

furibundum - inspired or frantic? a little of both?

  11. Doug Robertson Says:

a bit of both … figure it covers all the basis that way.

  12. little navigator Says:

btw, when I read your post I emailed Rain and totally told on you!

  13. Bob Betzen Says:

Good luck to you Doug! Hope to hear from you again in cyberspace.

  14. Doug Robertson Says:

Tattler! On the other hand, I’m all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that you thought it was tattle-worthy. :-) I’m dicking around (hope the new Current Events person doesn’t mind the verbiage … he or she may have a lot of deletin’ to do) with the new site in preparation for going live on the new domain. No one knows it’s there yet, of course, but be the first to leave a comment, even though it’s just a first test drive. I’ll feel like I’m getting back on track.

  15. Doug Robertson Says:

Dammit, couldn’t even get the link from my name right, it’s so new. This one will work.

  16. Doug Robertson Says:

Bob - Thanks so much for that! You know I’m a fan and will definitely remain a regular visitor at Radical Avenue. I feel that because of stuff that is going on lately in my personal life, I’ve been slacking on my 451 duties and better for the network to pass it on, although it kinda sucks. A lot, actually. I’ll still be around, and will definitely keep my fave 451 folks in the loop! Thanks for the thought, Bob.

  17. little navigator Says:

“(hope the new Current Events person doesn’t mind the verbiage … he or she may have a lot of deletin’ to do)”

I hope s/he leaves my Bush is a FUCK comments alone. :-)

  18. Doug Robertson Says:

ROTFLMAO!! That is exactly what I was thinking, too … And s/he better not dick around with my fucks either!!! But your FUCK BUSH comment is what came to mind first. Good stuff, good stuff.

  19. little navigator Says:

You know I usually don’t post FUCK. I was just having fun teasing the troll.

  20. little navigator Says:

That sounded sexually, didn’t it? LOL

  21. Doug Robertson Says:

Yeah, but the “troll” used to run this site, I finally figured out. Obviously with a different perspective than my own. And my mind’s always in the gutter, so everything sounds sexual to me. I’m a dirty boy.

  22. Diane J Standiford Says:

Well, I feel teary too; but I’ll man-up. Good luck, brother. I know you will do great at wherever you go. Sniff…I just can’t quit you. BUCK UP! There, I’m good. Peace, my friend. Diane-

  23. Doug Robertson Says:

Thanks, Lady Di - As soon as my DNS is all set at the new domain I’ll be there. Still, sad for me, but I’m still around and thank God all of you are, too! I can’t quit you, either. You complete me. You had me at hello … I should stop before I’m accused of plagiarizing, but you get my point.

  24. little navigator Says:

Nice try, Doug. But you know that doesn’t fall under plagiarism.

  25. Doug Robertson Says:

I know, just playing it safe.

  26. little navigator Says:

LOL…I like my Dougie boy wild!
